PSU vs. Northwestern-3:30 kickoff

Coming off the high of last weekend's marathon tailgate and awesome under-the-lights victory, we are ready to do it again this Saturday. Kick off is set for 3:30pm. Current forecast: High of 43 with a chance of rain/snow-Yuk!

Good thing this week is the 5th Annual Soup Cook Off! Those yummy crocks of homemade soup should warm us right up. If you have never been to the Soup Cook Off, you just bring a crockpot of soup (we have electricity to keep it warm). Anyone who comes to the tailgate judges via a secret ballot. Winners will be announced by 2pm. Prizes are awarded. Categories for prizes include Best Overall Soup (1st, 2nd & 3rd place) and Most Unique Recipe.

Michigan Game

A win on the road!! Woo-hoo!! Let's get ready for an upset at home, under the lights!

This tailgate brings us to the 90s. That is the 90210/alternative rock era. My resource website was not very helpful for this decade, but here are some foods introduced in the 90s.

Baked Lays
Cream of Broccoli Soup
Arizona Tea
Boca Burgers
Snackwell Brand foods
Stuffed Crust Pizza

Reminder the annual TailGreat Tourney will be held during this lengthy day of tailgating. Because we ran out of time last year, we cut the tourney to four games this year:

Ladder Ball
Beer Pong
Quarters
Corn Hole (aka Bean Bag Toss)

You play with a partner and play to become champion of each individual game. The top two teams will also go head to head to become the Ultimate TailGreat Tourney Champs. Here are pics of last year's winners.

If you know you are playing and who your partner will be, please email me or post to the blog. We can match ya up if you need a partner.

Let the games begin!

2010 Home Opener

Hello to another TailGREAT season! Here is a picture of our newest tailgater: Aaron Dennis born August 2nd. He can't wait to hang out with everyone at Lot 24!

I am pleased to announce this year's themes; this wonderfully fun idea came from Pam :)! In honor of Joe Pa's 45th season as head coach we are going to take a look back at Joe through the years. Each game we will celebrate a decade and we'll have some JoePa and Penn State history & highlights from that decade.

For the first game we will celebrate the 50s. Think poodle skirts and soda shoppes (burgers, dogs, milkshakes and fries). You can dress up for some real fun, bring food that was popular during that time or perhaps a food that was introduced during that decade. I'll provide some tips and inspiration, but really anything on the food end goes-no stress just bring what ya like to eat and share :). Click here for a great Web site that talks about popular foods for each of the decades.

Here is what the 50s brought us:
Dunkin Doughnuts (1950)
Cheez Whiz (1953)
Peeps (1954)
Certs (1956)
Ruffles (1958)

A few announcements:
We will hold the TailGREAT tournament as we did last year. It is planned for the October 30th, Michigan 8pm game.

Annual Soup Cook off will be held during the November 6th Northwestern game.

Pam and Rich will be out of town for Thanksgiving so there will be no RV for the final game (November 27th).

If you haven't heard get your parking passes early! Passes purchased before the game will be $10. Passes bought on game day will cost $40!! Yes, crazy as it seems $40 on game day. Here is the article on this change.

We love to hear from you so leave your comments below the post. Look forward to celebrating another Penn State season with everyone.

Love,
Tiffany

Blue and White Weekend & other news

Hello all!
Long time no see. The warm weather we had this week got me excited for the annual Blue and White game. This year's game will be held Saturday April 24th and as always is free admission. The game begins at 2pm. We will be tailgating in our usual spot and hope to see many of your there! Just a pot luck for this low key tailgate.

Congratulations to Pam who won the first ever awarded BUTT trophy (Josh will have to refresh my memory on what BUTT stands for: Bowl Ultimate Tournament T???) Every Christmas Josh sets up a college bowl pool that we fill out when we are all together. This year he up'd the stakes and created a coveted trophy which will be passed around from year to year. Pam was the first winner and the trophy will be on display this tailgate season. Here are some pictures from the ceremony we held a few weeks ago:

Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.

Finally, we have some exciting news....there will be an extra Brushwood with us next tailgate season. We are expecting baby #3 July 31st! We are not finding out the gender so you'll have to wait and see if it is another little linebacker or a future Lionette.

Send us your comments on what's new with you over this long PSU break.

Hope to see you all in April!
