PSU vs. Wisconsin

Hi all,

Another season comes to an end :(

Our final bowl destination will be the Rose Bowl (the Big Ten dance).

It is also time once again for our annual Soup Cookoff!  Warm soup + a crisp fall football Saturday= a perfect way to end our TailGreat season.

Just bring a crock of soup to enter yourself to the prestigious contest.  All TailGreaters will vote on soups.  The top three vote getters and Most Original recipe will receive a prize and bragging rights.

Here is a look at last year's winners for inspiration:

Penn State vs. Indiana

Hi all,
Can you believe we are down to only two games!?!? :(.

Indiana comes to town for noon kickoff on Saturday.  We will celebrate the Alamo Bowl during this tailGreat. So Tex-Mex, BBQ, American classics like burgers and dogs.  Anything goes in Texas :).

Just a heads up the annual Soup Cook Off will be held during the last game (Wisconsin), November 22nd.  Prizes will be awarded as well as bragging rights for the year! It is always a tailGreat favorite and perfect for a crisp fall day.  The soup is always "So Good, So Good, So Good"...... :)

Penn State vs. Ohio State

Hi All,

It is the battle of the NCAA bans when the Buckeyes come to town next Saturday.  **Note: Game time has changed from 6:00pm to 5:30pm.

We will be heading to the Fiesta Bowl for this big game and celebrating Mexican Fiesta style 1. Because it is fun 2. Because it is yummy!  Thinking of doing the walking tacos we were introduced to last year and the Margarita maker will be there spinning up your favorite ritas.

If anyone is selling tickets please let me know. My cousin Joel is looking for 4, but would love 2 if 4 isn't possible.  Thanks much!

See you at Lot 24,
Tiffany

PSU vs. Northwestern-Homecoming

The undefeated Wildcats come to Happy Valley this weekend so we will need a full force TailGREAT to get that energy level where it needs to be inside the stadium.  Kickoff is at noon.

Our bowl this week is the Orange Bowl.  Feel free to get creative as you want for this citrus celebration.  I plan on bringing Asian Beef with mandarin oranges and the blender to whip up adult and kid orange julius.

Enjoy pics of our tailGreats so far!  Please send pics if ya got 'em!

PSU vs. Temple

ALOHA!
That is correct we are traveling to Hawaii for the Aloha bowl next Saturday.  Come enjoy tropical beverages and get "lei"ed!

It is a 3:30 kickoff (perfect) and the extended forecast predicts partly cloudy and 67 for the high (perfect again!).

We will be bringing a pineapple, peppers, chicken and rice crockpot dish, tropical smoothies for the kids and tropical goodness for the adults.

Penn State vs. Navy

The new Penn State.
What did ya think of
the new uniforms?
It was great to see everyone on Saturday.  There will be many dips and dives as we all try to move forward while holding onto the traditions that have molded us for so long.  We can ensure one constant each week amazing food, great company and an enjoyable fall afternoon in Pennsylvania.

Our next TailGreat will honor the military in celebrating the Military Bowl.  We thought it appropriate being so close to Sept 11th and with the Midshipmen coming to town.  The game is Saturday, September 15th and is a 3:30pm kickoff.  We will be decked out in red, white and blue and enjoying good 'ole American grub (burgers, dogs, mac-n-cheese, any of your favs!)  We have access to a grill, right?!

Please remember we are accepting donation all season to help Pam and Donna stock up on TailGreat supplies. So next time you are at the grocery store consider grabbing an item to donate (plasticware, cups, plates, napkins, Sterno cups, etc.).

Mucho Thanks!

See you at Lot 24!

Let the healing begin

Yes We Are!
I've been thinking about how to post to our happy little blog for some time and have not known where to begin. We are a diverse group with, I am sure, a vast range of emotions on the topic. There are many included on this blog who aren't even PSU fans, but at one point or another have joined us in Happy Valley to experience the joy of a football Saturday. We hope you will come back to us and realize Penn State is so much more than has been perceived in the media. And as I've told others if any school is capable of overcoming such adversity, WE ARE!

The Penn State pride is always so closely associated with the football program, but those in and around Happy Valley know it is something deeper. Just ask my kids who beamed with pride as they displayed their art on campus after an amazing two weeks of camp with hard working undergrads. Just walk around campus and hear the "We are.." chant without a football field in sight or better yet be on the other side of the world and have someone chant that to you. Please if you have never done so, stand in the BJC in February when the students dance all weekend For the Kids and raise millions of dollars to fight pediatric cancer. Come to campus at 6am on a random Tuesday to share that pride with 3,000 friends, players and staff.

So many seem to be excited to come and support the team and begin to heal together. I expect our tailGREAT will likely see a surge in overall attendance (yahoo!). We are looking forward to another fantastic season of tailgating with the best!

Pam came up with a fantastic overall theme for the season :)! Since we have been banned from bowls for the next four years we are going to create our own bowl game atmosphere each week. Send me ideas for any bowls you would like to celebrate.  We'll start the first game with the Sugar Bowl.  This bowl game held in New Orleans, LA is a great start.  New Orleans should serve as inspiration for moving forward in the wake of disaster.  It is a noon kick off so as far as food goes, you could go the "Sugar" route and bring some sweet breakfast treats or you could also go the southern creole route and bring those tasty staples or you could go the "go your own way" route and bring whatever it is you'd like to share :)!  We'll bring the Mardi Gras beads :).

Pam and Donna supply many of the utensils, plates, napkins, coffee cups, aluminum food containers and sterno cups we use. To help them with this we have had folks bring an item or two to any of the tailgates throughout the year. Pam and Donna will store them and put them to good use.  Thanks much for any donation.

We'll touch base as the September 1st date gets closer. Apologies for the longer post!

Best wishes to all and hope to see you at Lot 24,
Tiffany
