Hello TailGreat Family!

 

We truly can call ourselves the TailGreat as we are the #4 tailgate of PSU! 

The Tailgate of the Year competition was heavy and a lot of work.  So I am really just thinking this tailgate should be a easy-peasy throw together :)! Please bring any of your tailgate go-tos and lets just enjoy each other's company!

Our final TailGreat (Nebraska Nov 23rd) will be the annual Soup Cook Off! (my personal favorite!) My the best soup win!

Penn State vs. Illinois and Tailgate of the Year Final

Hi all,

A noon kickoff means a very busy morning!  The theme this week is Mexican Fiesta/Halloween Bash. The judges will be coming to our tailgate from 8:50-9:05am.  They will judge us on our overall spirit, originality, and food.

We need to prepare:

• one appetizer
• one entree
• one dessert

We've got Donna' pepperoni bread for the appetizer. We are looking for an entree and a dessert if anyone has a good option that is judge worthy, please let me know!! I have a dessert idea, but if someone else has a suggestion I'd love them to go for it.

At 10am there will be a cornhole tournament at the Tailgate of the Year spot.  We need two folks from our tailgate to go up there and whip some butt!!  Any volunteers to play? I have official rules from the Tailgate of the Year crew I will send to the players.

Here is the spot location: Red parking lot (between the BJC and baseball stadium), RV spot #1769 -look for white tent with toty logo on it

Finally at 11am they will announce the winner.  Any and all are welcome and they are going to be giving away some merchandise.  

We are slacking BIG time in the votes, so we are a pretty long shot....but it was nice to make the top 6!

We Are... Officially Finalists!!

Wow everyone!  What an amazing job you did to get our TailGreat up to 4th place by the end of the first round of the competition.

Next Round of Competition: I received an email tonight from the coordinator.  He will email us our official video/interview time by Wednesday but the time slots are between 10:30-11:30 and 1:30-4:00.  You could request times so I requested after 1 so those of you coming up from far distances that day could arrive in time!  Hopefully we get a good time slot.  I will email you all when I know that confirmed time!  The video/interview will take about 30 minutes of which they will cut down to 1 1/2-2 min of footage :)  What will make the cut?....ha, ha!

Theme this Week: The theme this week is Pigskin!  We shall eat all things Pig :).  I have already heard of gumbo coming, pulled pork, ham (mom I will bring rolls), mac and cheese.  I will be bringing a sausage pasta dish and coleslaw to go with Gregg's pulled pork.

TailGreat Tourney: We will also be holding our annual TailGreat Tourney!! Corn hole, Beer Pong and Ladder Ball. If you know who you would like to team up with please leave me a comment or email me (tclemente13@hotmail.com).  All the rules will be posted and prizes will be awarded along with bragging rights of course!  

Bring it Big Time!  Let's show this crew what our unique TailGreat is all about!  As always all are welcome and we hope to get a great, great turn out for this memorable event!

A 3:30 kickoff and three weeks in a row of PSU football!  Can we hang another week? :)  It will be a good month before our next TailGreat together so let's make it count!

Thanks Lynn for the fun Disco/70s theme!  Food-anything goes.  I was too young to know what cuisine was in during the 70s, but perhaps some of our elders could help in that department? :)

Expect disco balls/lights/disco music?...don't have a lot of this so bring some if ya got some.  And perhaps some funky clothes!

Pam met a PSU alum while on vaca this week and he sent us a little video message.  Here also are pics from the NJ tailgate and last week's hoopla!
